Legal
Your privacy, in plain terms
How we handle the personal information you share with us through this website. Last updated July 2025.
Who we are
Robert Atkinson Solicitors is a private client law firm at 12 Savile Row, London W1S 3PQ. For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of the personal information described in this notice.
What we collect
When you use the enquiry form on this website, we collect only what you choose to give us:
- Your name and contact details (email address, and telephone number if you provide one)
- The nature of your enquiry, in whatever detail you choose to share
- Which of our practice areas and (where relevant) which partner you wish to speak to
We do not use cookies and we do not set any tracking technologies on this website, so nothing is collected about your visit other than standard server logs held briefly by our hosting provider.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry — by email or telephone, in confidence.
- To identify the right partner for your matter, and to prepare for your first conversation.
- For our records — as a regulated firm we keep limited records of enquiries for regulatory and quality purposes.
Our lawful bases
We rely on your consent where you submit an enquiry, and on our legitimate interest in responding to it properly. Where you go on to instruct us, we process information for the performance of our contract and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. Please do not send us sensitive personal information in the enquiry form — we will ask for anything we need, once we are engaged.
Who we share with
We do not sell or rent your information. It is visible only to the partners and staff who need it to respond, and to the providers who host this website and store enquiry records on our behalf. We never share it for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceed are deleted after a reasonable period. Where a matter proceeds, records are kept for the periods required by our regulators, typically six years after the matter ends.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- ask us to erase or restrict processing in certain circumstances
- object to processing based on legitimate interests
- withdraw any consent you have given, at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at private@roatsolicitors.co.uk or +44 (0)20 7946 0933.
